Read about Oscar Wilde's new Jadeite Jade head and hands, and sculptor Danny Osborne's geological odyssey to source them, in The Irish Times, Friday November 12th...
It was an epic night for Irish Performance Art at Kilmainham Gaol last Thursday, with over 650 pairs of eyes soaking it up from 6pm - 10pm, many queuing for a long time for a precious glimpse into strange goings-on in eerie cells. Here are just a few iphone snaps - the legendary Alaistar MacLennon, the Trojan Amanda Coogan, Dominic Thorpe, Victoria McCormack, Fergus Byrne, Aine Philipps, Helena Walsh, and quite a few more. Etching this ephemeral genre onto the evolving map of Irish culture.
If you'd like to know more about the first Irish Gallery ever (TBC), at "Art Toronto", keep your eyes peeled for the first issue of www.vulgo.ie! My only regret is not stealing a pic of Atom Egoyan (both of his parents were painters), and Arsinee Khanjan wandering through, and admiring the "large-scale works", but trust me, they did wander through, and they did admire the Irish large-scale works (by Marty Kelly and Tom Climent). Great to see Irish artists getting out there into big international waters.
